Family Christmas Photos // Blogmas Day 4

I was planning on going to the mountains today with my boyfriend’s family to get a Christmas tree, only things did go as planned. After waking up an hour late (we were gonna leave at 6 and woke up at 7) Jonathan and I decided we couldn’t go if we were gonna make it back in time for my family photos.

Turns out we made the right decision about not going because there was about 3-4 feet of snow & they had to turn back!

After going back to bed for a little nap because I have another cold, probably the third one in the past couple months we headed over to take family photos!

Little side note about getting sick so much, I’m a nanny and  I absolutely love my job. But….I do get sick a lot! I’m trying to do things like eat healthier and take vitamins to improve my immune system but so far no luck!

Anyway…

Yayyyyy, family Christmas photos!! My family doesn’t take photos together very often so it was quite the ordeal….
We carried our red little couch from the kitchen to our dock and after a little bit of bickering about which area had better lighting, we finally got everything all set up!

I then went about fixing all the settings on my camera and put it on a tripod, I had my boyfriend press the button to take them even though my camera does have timer cam. (I didn’t want to have to run back and forth for every picture)

Anway, we got lots of great pictures for our Christmas cards this year! I am really excited about them!

Here they are! Happy Holiday season everyone! If your family would like Christmas photos taken, contact me on my Facebook page Ruby Marie Photography

Choose Joy // Blogmas Day 1

Hello & happy December 1st! It’s almost the happiest time of the year, but for many students it is currently the most stressful. Finals are approaching in the next week or so. The pressure to do well is at an all time high.

I know I push myself to be perfect even when it’s not achievable. I want to get a 4.0 in every class and on every assignment. Realistically, I know that’s not going to happen. But I’m still disappointed in myself when I do less than perfect.

Lately, I’ve been really overwhelmed with school. It feels like I have this huge weight to do well hanging over my head. With all of the stress, I have to remind myself to take a step back and look at what’s really important. It’s not having the perfect grades, its looking to choose Joy in the things that aren’t the most joyful. It’s something I find myself reminding people often but forgetting to apply to my own life.

So, with finals next week I’m trying to take a deep breath and remind myself that it’s okay not to be perfect. I’m reminding myself that it’s more important to be happy than to have apl 4.0’s… And in all things no matter how hard, to choose joy.

I took a little break from school work this week to do a little Christmas shopping and it was a very festive and happy day. Here are some photos:

Happy Blogmas Day 1❄️🎄☃️ I would love ideas for things y’all would like me to blog about for the next 23 days! Comment and let me know!

How I’m Saving $20,000

Hey friends,

It’s been a while. And by a while I mean way too long. I don’t know why I can’t keep up with posting consistently. Honestly life just gets busy and blogging unfortunately becomes a low priority. You don’t know how many times I think, “wow I should blog that” and then end up getting busy, falling asleep, playing Pokemon Go, etc…😁

I’ve also been feeling a little lack of inspiration lately, so I really am going to try to blog more but I need input on what to blog about…(Comment your ideas on what I should write about…)

Anyway, I did get a comment a week or so ago asking to post about why I decided to stay here and go to Community College rather than a four year university. This is something I haven’t really liked talking about just because it seems to be all anyone has asked me about for the last few months. However, after struggling with the decision for quite a while I finally settled on what I was going to do and I feel pretty content with my decision. So here is my reasoning:

Okay, so I honestly think it’s a little crazy to expect everyone to go straight into a four year university, knowing their major and life plan right after high school. I mean, if you are one of those people who has that all figured out already good for you, but that’s definitely not the norm. And that’s definitely not me. Yet, it’s something that seems to be looked down upon, if you don’t have figured all out.

As I said earlier, I  really struggled with the decision to not go off to a four year university. I felt a little bit like a loser to be honest. In my mind people were going to think things like “wow, she’s dumb…not going anywhere in life,” and maybe they will. But I had to make the decision to not care.

After I took out my fear of what others would think, what I actually wanted to do become really clear. And that was; I didn’t know what I wanted to do. As in I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my future career, life path. So I thought, why would I spend a ridiculous amount of money to go off to a four year university when I don’t even know what I want to do?

For my senior oral boards I even calculated out the amount of money I would be saving by not going off to a four year university right away. It was right around 20,000 dollars. Which is crazy. I mean keep in mind that I did do running start for two years of high school and do have a significant head start on finishing my AA, but still. Crazy.

So that’s my plan as of now, finish up my AA at Green River and then go off to maybe UW or Central, I’m not sure! If any of you have any experience at either of those schools comment your opinions!

Xoxo,

Ruby Marie

P.S. I know the comment also said to write about my boyfriend but I don’t know what to write about him lol, but just know he is perfect🙈

Long Overdue Update on Life // 05/18/16

Hey guys! I’ve been MIA and I apologize. Life has just been so good lately, and by good I mean the crazy-busy-fun-not a second to stop and breathe kinda good. A lot of exciting things have happened lately so here’s an update,

Mexico:

I got back from Mexico a little over a month ago and I just have to say, I miss it so much. It was a life changing experience, being in the Mexico dirt for a week, with wll distractions taken away: no cellphones, no trying to look good, no concerns except Jesus. It was a refresher. I learned so much, I grew so much, and I made relationships through Christ that I know will last a lifetime.

I HAVE A SISTER!?

Yep, yep I do! Recently I got to meet my biological sister and her daughter. They were the sweetest and it was an absolutely crazy experience for me since I’ve never met anyone I’m actually related to! It has made me very excited about what the future has to hold with all my siblings and our relationships!

My sister & my niece! (Who happens to be older than me, lol)

SPRING HAS SPRUNG, Spring photography:

I wasn’t sure whether to include this part since it’s not really an important update more of just a fun one, but I decided to just go for it! Lol! So, it’s spring and that means it’s time for one of my favorite things: FLOWERS! More accurately, picking & taking pictures with flowers haha. Anyway, I have had the most fun doing little photo shoots involving pretty spring flowers lately.

MY GORGEOUS BEST FRIEND:

LUKE & TAY:

(when they read this they’re prolly gonna kill me, but when they get married I’m taking their wedding photos here ;)…)

#sorrynotsorry

Lol….well that’s all for now!

I am really hoping to become a more consistent blogger once school is over & it is summer so stay tuned!

Love,

Ruby❤️

Off to Mexico

Days like today remind me of how blessed I am to be alive.

I went shopping with Victoria and Anne, where a lady who worked there told Victoria and I that we were too big for the sizes we were about to try on. (Even though they fit just fine.) but ya know what? It didn’t phase me for more than a a couple minutes.

Cause honestly screw our western beauty standards of size zero girls being ideal, I like my not size zero body more than I ever liked being stick thin. As Anne would describe it we’re “curvy and wonderful” lol

But moving on from that whole ordeal I ended up finding a pretty prom dress with time left over to go to Panera before Younglife. Which always makes it a good day.

Another thing that makes a good day, even a good Monday: Younglife! I was so happy to give the talk tonight on how there is a bigger purpose for the pain in life. (Which I might post more about on here later.)

After this we all went to McDonald’s and I just gotta say, I feel so blessed by all the Junior High girls I know. Like dang. I wish I had been that mature/nice/thoughtful etc… when I was their age.😂 They are seriously blessings to my life and bring me so much joy.

And finally, something that is also bringing me joy today is the fact that I leave for Mexico TOMORROW!! I cannot believe it’s already here and I am so looking forward to this little road trip with Tay. It is going to be a blast & I will be sure to keep you all updated❤️

Love,

Ruby Marie
